How do I choose the university to apply to?
First read carefully the sections for each university. There are differences between them that may impact your choice. A few courses using specialized laboratory equipment might be given at a particular university but none of the courses now planned has this requirement. Normally, courses will be given in locations convenient to nuclear centres and thus, location should not be a primary consideration in choosing a home university. In fact, it's entirely possible that you may never need to come in person to the university of registration. Factors such as the university from which you graduated and the perceived value you may attach to a degree from a particular university are more likely to be decisive.How do I register?
To obtain registration information, click on the registration link for one of the UNENE universities.How many courses do I have to take per year to remain in the Master's Degree program?
Two or three courses a year is the normal requirement but this can be negotiated if unexpected work, family or other circumstances are encountered by the student that make this level temporarily difficult to maintain. The time allowed to complete the program is five years.Is it possible to take just one course, or a few courses, without completing a Master's Degree or a Diploma Program?
Yes. This is certainly possible and a Certificate of Attendance will be issued on successful completion of the course. Admission requirements are the same as for the Master's Degree.Do I have to be registered as a graduate student to take only one course?
Yes. It is considered that only those students with academic backgrounds sufficient to meet the entrance requirements for graduate work will be able to successfully complete the course work.What does it cost for each course?

Generally yes - almost all of the courses are offered under a rotating two-year schedule, and it is our intention to honour that even if the enrollment is low. In rare circumstances we might cancel a course if the enrollment is unreasonably low. It is therefore not a good strategy to wait to enroll until you are sure a course will run, because if everyone did that, we would see zero enrollment and would not run the course; and because in almost all cases the course will indeed run.Will places in popular courses be filled on a "first come, first served" basis?
No. If there are too many students for a given course, admission will be decided by agreement between the funding companies and universities.Will these UNENE courses count toward the P. Eng. designation?
Educational requirements for professional engineering registration is an accredited undergraduate degree from a Canadian University. However, for equivalency, the UNENE courses may satisfy some of the courses required by professional associations like the PEO. It is our understanding that generally only undergraduate courses can be used to for this purpose. However, to be sure you should contact your local professional engineers association for a definitive ruling.
Can I audit a course?
Generally no. As far as the university is concerned, auditees must first apply for and be accepted as graduate students, and they will then pay the same course fees as "real" students, but get no credit for the course. As far as UNENE is concerned, we are looking for commitment from our students that matches the commitment of the professors and the UNENE organization, and auditees generally do not have such a commitment to the programme. Unofficial auditing ("sitting in") is likewise discouraged, but may be permitted for staff from the industry UNENE members by prior agreement.
If I receive a Master's Degree through UNENE am I eligible to apply to a PhD program?
Unfortunately, the fact that a person has completed a course-based UNENE Master's degree does not have any bearing on whether they are capable of doing research. Every case is different but you would expect to have to complete a research-based Master's before going on to a PhD. Note that the UNENE degree is not a barrier (you can of course do research studies after the UNENE degree) but it is not much help either, other than to demonstrate your ability to do course work.
